Effective July 1, 2016, contractor license applicants must obtain a CCB license within two years of passing the Oregon pre-license test. Previously, the requirement was the license applicant had to complete the licensing process within two years of completing the education requirement. This meant the applicant would have two years from the date he/she finished class or completed the home study program to take the test, pass the test and complete the application process. On July 1, 2016, the applicant will have two years to complete the licensing process after passing the test.
I'd like to use this opportunity to stress the importance of keeping your test score report. When you get your test score report that indicates a passing grade, make a copy to include with your license application. Keep the original in a safe place with other important documents. The testing center changes from time to time. This may be a difficult document to replace!
This clarifying change is great news to those of us who feel time is passing us by much too quickly! To those, you just got a little more time! Thanks and great job CCB administrators. We could all use a little more time!
